Shamanic Frame Drums
I like these drums
for shamanic circles, ceremonies, and personal use because they are light, easy to hold,
well-made and more resonant (big tone) than any drums Ive seen for their size and
price. You can play them with the beater or with your hand for a lot of sound variety.
Price does not includes shipping. Shipping can be from about $8 to $25 per drum depending on size, where the drums will be shipped, and how many you order at once. Shipping is only to United States addresses.
E-mail Penelope@animaltalk.net after you decide which drums youd like, with your shipping address and phone number and Ill e-mail the shipping cost, so you can complete your order. Frame drums below have a fixed goatskin head, rosewood frame, include a leather beater, and are 2 in width, unless specified. Two rawhide straps cross in the back to give support to the frame, and can be used to hold and steady the drum.
22" $62 (My preferred size to use. Light enough to hold for long periods of time and move around with while drumming while having a deep resonant voice) 4 lbs.
18" $47 (My students seem to buy this one the most. It has a good resonant tone and its size is easy to manage.) 3 lbs.
14" $37 (Amazing that for its smaller size, it still has a great sound.) 3 lbs.
12" $26 3 lbs.
10" $20 (Easy to take traveling. A good drum
for kids. A good sound for its size.) 2 lbs.
30" $90 (Big booming tone; not as easy to hold for long periods as the smaller sizes but what a sound! Great for drum circles and healing ceremonies.) (4 lbs. Due to its size, it ships in a 30 lb box)
TUNABLE 30" $130 2.25" width rosewood frame, with a tunable goatskin head. The Tuning mechanisms are mounted on the inside of the frame for a clean look. Actual weight is only about 4 lbs. Due to its size it ships in a 30 lb box.

Raindrums Two fixed goatskin heads on a frame contain beads that bounce and roll off the membranes' inside surface. Sounds like rain and thunder. Lots of fun to use with many kinds of sound possible from shaking, rolling, tapping, or beating the raindrum.
18" $52 14" $42

39" long Bamboo. Tip it back and
forth to create the soothing sound of rain. Great for meditation and relaxation.
Can also be shaken back and forth vigorously as a rhythm instrument.
Drum Care
Your frame drum is made in Pakistan of goat skin and rosewood. These drums are light, easy to handle, and beautifully resonant. Treat your drum with care as you would an animal and plant companion. For the fullest sound, beat the drum in points around rather than exactly on the exact center.
Under excessive heat or dry conditions, the drum head or skin may shrink, tighten, crack, and even break the wood frame. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DRUM IN A CAR, where heat from the sun can be intense. Keep your drum away from long exposure to both extreme heat and very cold or freezing temperatures. High humidity can be absorbed by the drum head so that the sound changes from “boom” to “thwuck.” Heating the drum head carefully for awhile in the sun, with a hair dryer, or other gentle heat source will dry it out sufficiently to restore a good sound. Take care. Overdoing the heating can damage the drum.
Enjoy your drumming with the heartbeat of all life on Earth.
Fiberskyn head drums by Remo
(made in
U.S.A.) are sturdier and more adaptable to weather conditions than the
natural skin head drums above. In dry climates, natural skin drums can shrink
and crack; in humid conditions, natural skin drums can become dull. You might
consider having a Fiberskyn drum if you travel with your drum to various
climates or live in extreme dry or moist conditions. I am amazed at the
beautiful quality of tone of these Fiberskyn drums and how natural they look.
Since I moved to Arizona, they are my drums of choice.
